I have decided to combine my love of fashion and love of babies to create my very own little Instagram Shop! You can find me at Shop Little Bear!
We just "went live" yesterday and I would love it if you would follow me and pass my shop on to your friends if you like what you see. My plan with Shop Little Bear (name inspired by you know who!) is to sell mainly vintage baby and kids clothing with some special "non-vintage" pre-loved items included in the mix! My goal is to keep it high quality and avoid run of the mill baby and kid items that you can find anywhere. I hope this will keep Shop Little Bear special to you.
LIke other "Instashops" the first email/zip in the comments wins the item. Shipping is calculated by weight, .75 cent fee and PayPal within 24 hours.

Summers aren't my thing. 1/3 or more of my childhood was spent living in the desert and perhaps that has to do with my aversion to all things "hot." I yearn for Fall, Chilly Autumn Days and even Winter...like real Winter. I love bundling up, layering, hats and scarves - you name it. I was so happy when I found out I was pregnant and would only be early 2nd trimester pregnant during last summer. Los Angeles summers aren't just too hot but also sticky and humid.
And for a girl who already runs hot it's just not fun to walk around sphitzing all day! I was concerned about how the Summer would be with the baby. As much as I love the closeness of nursing I worried if we would just be two big sticky balls of heat stuck together from June-September (because let's face it, September can sometimes be hotter then August!). I am happy to report this Summer hasn't been nearly as bad as last year, but I just thought I'd mention a few fashion tips that have really worked for me this Summer now that I'm a Mama.
1) They are like huge air vents and I'm totally catching the breeze! Tight tee and tanks are NOT where it's at when it's hot.
2) Breastfeeding is a breeze! Pull that shit to the side and BAM! Boobs out and ready to go. No need to worry about exposing your belly to the world when you pull your shirt up and it's super discrete!
I cut a few tee shirts I already had - a Minor Threat tee and a 2Pac tee, but you could always get some cheap plain men's shirts from Target and do the same thing. Make sure you cut lower then just the armholes or all you will have is a muscle tee. We are going for more of a 80's glam/punk kind of thing.
Might I also suggest you wear sassy nursing bra's for a nice kick of color or pattern. Wearing a plain flesh color or white nursing bra wouldn't really give you the look we're going for here - which is "Yes, I know, my bra and sides are exposed," not, "Oh crap this shirt is too big and I have a frumpy nursing bra on."
Target is fabulous for stylie nursing bras - here a two of my favorites by Gilligan & O'Malley!
The second item is the hair turban. I have jokingly dubbed this - the Summer of the Turban and here's why...
As a new Mama I'm lucky to find time to wash and brush my hair. It's sad but true. How sick am I of ponytails or buns using my handy dandy Spin Pins?! Urgh.
Then the turban walked into my life and I heard angels singing.
Okay not really, but it's a great way to spruce up a pony tail or bun as well as a fab way to hide dirty hair. I have purchased a few different turbans from Etsy but you can also make them yourself without even needing a sewing machine! Google it. You'll be glad you did!

As I mentioned in the last post, our friends Gaelyn and her husband John (Chico's Godparents) had their baby boy Oliver "Ollie" Jenkins last Saturday. John already whipped this little video up...cause that's how they roll. It's super adorable, especially the message at the end.
Welcome to the world Ollie!
3 months? Feels more like 3 years! No, no - not in a bad way Baby Bear - we just have done so much and you have grown so much, that it's hard to believe you can learn and change so much in just one months time!
During the past month you have learned all sorts of new tricks! You can grab onto toys and bring them to your mouth like a champ! Your new favorite thing is to play on your "jungle gym" as I call it - you lay on your back and look up at flashing lights, music and spinning objects that dangle from the gym. You crack up so hard while your playing in your gym. Sometimes it looks like you are playing a drum kit! You kick hanging monkeys with your feet, punch a hanging rattle with your right hand and with your left hand try to grap the spinning toys. DOUBLE BASS DOUBLE BASS! This further proves my prediction that you are going to be very musical someday!
The other fun thing that you do now is babble and chat with me. I will ask you something and you respond by chatting and laughing. We do this every morning for a good bit of time - that's usually when you are the happiest. Yes Little Bear, sometimes you can be quite a grouch! It's funny, one moment you are laughing and the next minute you look so grouchy! Your Grandma Sue thinks that maybe you are going to be really serious and think your Papa and I are pretty ridiculous (which we are). I think that you might just have a really great poker face.
Speaking of poker - we went on our first family trip a few weeks ago! The 3 of us went to Las Vegas for your uncle Patrick and aunt Sophie's wedding. It was the first time you got to meet a lot of family - you met your Grandpa Adam, Great Grandma Mary, Aunt Loretta, and your cousins Sierra and Jonah! Sierra wanted to hold you right away and you looked huge in her arms!
I will tell you a funny story about Vegas. We bought you an adorable little sailor outfit (including a sailor hat!) to wear to the wedding. When we arrived at Cesar's Palace you started screaming and I couldn't figure out why you were so upset. I picked you up out of your car seat and you had pooped all the way up your back, all over your car seat and of course your all white sailor suit. You kept looking at your Papa and I with this look that said, "Guys, I'm so sorry - I feel miserable!" It was quite an ordeal!
Love you so much Baby Bear - here's to another month of love, laughs, antics and growing!
You and Papa hamming it up during your photo shoot.
Yellow & Grey Bow Tie Onsie with Vest - Noah's Boutique on Etsy - Cool thing about this? The onsie has snaps on it and you can order different ties, suspenders, vests, etc to snap right on to create different looks. We actually ordered this for the wedding but it didn't come in time. It's okay though, you would have just pooped on it anyways. ;)
Check out my husbands new site - That Pendleton Guy. He's been selling vintage Pendletons for a while now on Craigslist, but I helped him get set up with his own site where he can slang his goods. He's extremely knowledgeable and only sells high quality, mostly vintage Pendletons as well as other vintage items. Happy Shopping!
Things I said I would never do #2:Cutesy Clothing.
"Just because they are babies doesn't mean they have to be dressed like it's Halloween," I would say...
Fast forward to Chico's first Easter this year and you better believe I was counting down the days because I was ready with a full on bunny suit.
Were we going to an Easter Egg Hunt? No.
Were we visiting with family? No.
Did I just want him to be in his bunny suit all day because it was Easter? Hell yes.
I really wanted to see him with ears and a cotton taill. Is that so wrong?
Another strong opinion I once stood by "Pre-Chico," was that I was not going to put my child in clothing with cutesy phrases on it.
I present to you Exhibit B:
I'm mostly talking about all the Carter's onsies, rompers, sleepers, etc. that have: "Mommy's Little Guy," "Cute Like My Daddy," "Captain Cutie," etc. going across everything. You might be thinking - she sure knows those Carter's catch phrases really well!
Well I do.
Because I dress Chico in that shit on the daily! Not only did we receive baby clothes like this at our baby shower, but we totally bought it as well!! Why have I gone back on what I originally said? Because seriously, who cares. My baby is cute as shit and somehow he looks even cuter when it's spelled out across his chest. It makes us smile, it makes other people smile and again - who cares? He's only going to be an infant for a short amount of time. He's supposed to look effortlessly cutesy. He is cutesy with or without it being spelled out. I'm not going to go out of my way to shun clothing that I think is really cute because it says, "I Love My Mama" on it. He does love his Mama dammit!
You really don't know until you know - you know?
This weekend my little family will be headed to Las Vegas for my Brother-in-law's wedding. It is going to be a weekend of many "firsts!" Chico's first road trip, my first time having to be sort of "fancy" since having Chico, and the first time everyone really gets a chance to meet Chico - because the little bugger is finally safely immunized and can fend off germs now!
Finding things to wear for the weekend has given me a bit of anxiety because there are so many things to consider! I'm definitely not at my "fighting" weight and still am pretty soft around the middle. I am also exclusively breast feeding, which means that whatever I wear - Chico must have easy access to his food source. Since I have had him, I have pretty much been living in nursing tanks and wrapping my head around putting together a cute outfit feels really foreign. I also want to be comfortable to an extent because I'll be holding the baby during the wedding, reception, etc - so fabric can't be easily stained, show sweat or drool and needs to move with me.
There are two occasions over the weekend that I will have to dress up for - one is a dinner on Friday before the wedding and then the wedding itself. I have decided to wear this H&M dress from their "Conscious" collection which means that it is made from 100% recycled materials - in this case, polyester. I actually don't like the length on the model (too short!) but on me the length is exactly how I like it - it brushes the ground and has a slight train that looks really elegant without being too fancy. It also has a neckline that will allow for me to feed the baby without having to take the entire dress off! It comes in at the waist in a way that shows my shape without feeling like I have to suck in. I'm going to actually throw a belt around it to accentuate the waist.
For the wedding I am pulling an older piece from my closet. It's a Marc Jacobs dress and the only picture I can find of it is this one of my husband and I from before we were married.
As you can see - this one also has a great neckline for breastfeeding. As far as shoes go I am going to just go comfy and sport some really cute Xileration sandals from Target. As cute as heels might be, I don't want to be miserable half way through the wedding with a baby in tow. I feel like that might be challenging enough as it is and I'd rather focus on Chico as opposed to trying not to eat shit in heels. Plus it's Vegas - it's gonna be hot and you really won't see my feet with the length of the dresses.
It should be an adventure for sure - just hoping we survive the car ride there!
Check out my Poshmark closet HERE. I'm selling some maternity items that I don't need anymore. Great deal for those of you who are in need of some staple items for your journey through the trimesters!!
